Nine games into the season, Newcastle has the fourth-most goals in the English Premier League. Time to shore up the defense. Still think the optimum defense is Jose Enrique-Francisco Coloccini-Sol Campbell-Steven Taylor. Wonder if I will ever see it.

I’m not going to get over this anytime soon. Seriously, it’s been more than three weeks and I’m still depressed. Hatem Ben Arfa was the spark Newcastle needed and now he’s gone and things are uncertain. A thousand curses on Manchester City and especially Nigel de Jong, and I hope the rest of the lads can keep things together in what looks like a brewing relegation fight.

Epic Take on the Statistical Movement

Can’t help but agree with Will. The sabermetricians have turned particularly nasty, and their know-it-all tack has spoiled all the capital ‘Moneyball’ brought them. One thing I’ve realized covering the game — I’m not as smart as the people who run teams. Not even close to as smart. When will the statheads realize that they aren’t either?
